This Melbourne duo’s blend of folk-roots music is both tender and gritty. Laden with spot-on vocal harmonies, Little Wise comprises singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sophie Klein. Megan Bernard adorns Klein’s story-telling with her remarkably lush guitar work. The pair share a palpable musical chemistry onstage emerging from years of musical friendship that feel more like decades. This burgeoning partnership brings an evolution and maturity to the sound, evoking sounds of James Taylor, Indigo Girls and local sweethearts The Waifs and The Audreys.
Little Wise are back in 2015 after a brief hiatus. During this break Klein roamed outback Australia and backpacked through Asia, gleaning scraps of stories that soon became a catalogue of new songs just waiting to be devoured. Little Wise are now on the brink of recording this new material on what is to become their first full-length album, a follow-up to 2014’s EP Sweet Rain Falling. Having just performed alongside Tim Rogers, Archie Roach and Deborah Conway at Melbourne’s Shir Madness Festival, the duo are heading excitedly into Australia’s festival season with performances scheduled at Majors Creek Folk Festival, End of the Line and other festival appearances to be announced.
In this special show at the Yarra Hotel, Little Wise celebrate a return to the Melbourne scene and launch their much-awaited debut video clip. Featuring footage from 2014’s EP launch tour, the ‘My Pocket’ video was filmed, directed and produced by budding independent film maker Caitlin Bryan.
The duo will be joined by special guest, Tasmanian/Melbournian songstress Jane McArthur.
