Dale Watson is a torch bearer of the real traditions of country music, before the description became degraded. Riding a musical road paved by Hank Williams, Ray Price, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, he respects the traditions will always keeping things fun and interesting, with a recent example being the meal he made of Blake Shelton’s “old farts and jackasses”insult earlier this year. Fortunately for Australian fans, he’s currently touring a new album recorded at Willie Nelson’s Texas studio and Dale spoke to Unpaved about rogue airlines, the differences between Austin and Nashville and turning the world into one big honky tonk.
